How to find Swedish companies by industry, size, and financials

Finding Swedish companies is easy; finding the right two hundred of them is the actual job. The raw register is public and its basic data is free. This guide covers what the official sources give you, where they stop, and how to get from "manufacturers in Skåne with 20 to 100 employees" to a list with financials and people you can call.

Last updated 9 July 2026. Figures verified against AngelEQ's production data.

Step 1: define the segment before you touch any source

Every useful search is a combination of four dimensions. Decide them first, or you will drown in the 1.39 million companies of the complete register:

Step 2: know what each official source gives you

What none of these give you: filed financials as filterable numbers across the whole market, named decision-makers and contacts attached to each company, or a way to express all four dimensions in one query and export the result.

Step 3: close the gap between raw data and a usable list

The free layer hands you names and codes. To act, you still need the financials parsed out of hundreds of thousands of annual reports, people worth calling matched to each company, and the whole thing deduplicated and export-ready. Doing that by hand for one segment takes days; doing it fresh for every new segment is what kills most prospecting workflows.

This is the layer AngelEQ is built for: the complete register with filed financials for 550,000 companies, named board and CEO decision-makers for 379,000, and business contacts attached. You describe the segment in plain language, in English or Swedish, and the list comes back with the data already on it. Already have a list of your own? Enrich it against the register. Want more companies like your best customer? Start from a lookalike.

A worked example

"Profitable manufacturers in Skåne, 20 to 100 employees, that export." Resolved against the register that becomes: SNI section C, region Skåne, employee band 20 to 99, an export marker, and a profitability filter from filed financials. In AngelEQ that sentence is the query; the result is an export-ready list with each company's revenue, margin, and the named person to call. If you are still comparing approaches, the guide to choosing a prospecting tool covers how to evaluate any vendor, including us.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free list of Swedish companies?

Yes, at the raw-data level. Statistics Sweden's business register is the official source, and its basic company data has been free since 2025. It gives you names, organisation numbers, industry codes, and size bands. What it does not give you is filed financials in a filterable form, named decision-makers, or contacts; that is the layer tools add.

How do I find Swedish companies by revenue or profitability?

Revenue and profitability live in each company's filed annual report, not in the basic register. To filter a market by them, the reports must be parsed into comparable numbers. AngelEQ carries filed financials for 550,000 Swedish companies, so a question like "profitable manufacturers over 10 million" resolves directly against the register.

Can I search for Swedish companies in English?

The official sources are largely Swedish-first. AngelEQ accepts plain-language briefs in English and Swedish, so a foreign team can describe a Swedish segment in English and get the same register-backed result.

What is the difference between Bolagsverket and SCB's register?

Bolagsverket is the companies registration office: the legal register of record, where companies are registered and annual reports are filed. Statistics Sweden (SCB) runs the statistical business register used for statistics, with basic data on every active company. For prospecting you typically need both layers plus contacts, which is what sales-intelligence tools assemble.
